Upgrading from WorldMail 4 to MailSite 7.0.3 and later This document details how to upgrade from WorldMail 4 to MailSite 7 and later.

Customers looking for information on upgrading from WorldMail 2 should refer to KB 10406

Customers looking for information on upgrading from WorldMail 3 should refer to KB 10407
THIS DOCUMENT APPLIES TO WORLDMAIL 4 ONLY

Your current WorldMail 4 license key will allow you to upgrade to MailSite 7. Please contact sales@rockliffe.com for information on licensing. Alternatively call 1-408-879-5600 (US) or +44 (0)113 383 0125 (International)

Customers upgrading from WorldMail 4 to MailSite 7.0.3 (or later) should note that their webmail pages will be overwritten with the default Rockliffe MailSite Express Pages.

Customers should backup their existing 'webclient' directory if they wish to keep a reference to the current formatting. After upgrading, customers will need to customize their Express pages if they wish to restore the look and feel of the older WorldMail 3 webclient site. This can be done by comparing the changes between the files in the backed up 'web client' directory against the files in the 'Express' directory.

To upgrade you should:

  • Take a back up of your WorldMail 4 settings. You can use the MSBACK tool to do this. See KB 10059. This file will allow you to revert back to WorldMail 4 if you run into any major problems.
  • Stop the WorldMail 4 Services from the WorldMail Management Console.
  • Run the MailSite 7 installer. You can use your existing license key
  • MailSite will install on top of the current installation path for WorldMail.
  • You should install the hotfix rollup packages for MailSite and MailSite Express. These are available via the Rockliffe Downloads section. The packages are automated.
  • After the upgrade is complete, the only significant change you should experience is the changes to the Express site, which can be customized.
For more information on customizing MailSite Express, refer to the MailSite help file under APPENDIX C - CUSTOMIZING MAILSITE EXPRESS
