The instructions below are designed to reflect what the settings look like on smartphone. Some variations however may apply to different models.

Android

Android 2.1+ devices natively support Microsoft AciveSync which allows wireless synchronization of Email Contacts and Calendar

  • Press menu, then go into Settings
  • Select Accounts and Sync
  • Press Add Account
  • Under More Accounts, press Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync (On some devices, this may be called Corporate Mail)/li>
  • Enter in your Email address and Password and press Next
  • If AutoDiscover Fails, select Manual Setup and enter your server address e.g. mail.domain.com
  • Note that Use secure connection (SSL) is enabled by default, if your server does not support SSL connections untick the checkbox for SSL
  • Reenter your server credentials if necessary and press Next
  • Once your information is verified, you may select which collections to synchronize.

Apple iPhone and iPad

  • Go to the Home Screen > Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and then select Microsoft Exchange
  • Complete the Account Settings with your email address e.g user@example.com, username e.g example.com\user and password. Give this a description and press Next.
  • Enter the server address e.g. mail.domain.com and press Next
  • Choose what you wish to synchronize on the phone out of mail, contacts or calendars or all of these. Tap Save.

The iPhone defaults to use SSL on the account you setup. If you wish to turn SSL off you need to enter the connection details above and let the connection to the server fail.

You can then go into Home > Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > select your account. Then choose Account Info > Edit . Set 'use SSL' to OFF and tap 'save'.

At this stage, you don’t need to specify any values for User name and Domain. Select Sign in. If setup completes successfully, skip to step 7.
